What's in My Bag | June 2014

I posted my very first YouTube video two weeks ago and I am very excited about it.
I have wanted to start a YouTube channel for a while now but I wasn't sure how I would be able to do it because I don't have a camera and I'm not the best at editing.

Also, I'm not the most outgoing person in the entire world. It is really difficult for me to talk to people, in real life, so I was a little nervous about how I would do it.

However, I finally sat down to film and I have to say that I am proud of what I did. For my first video I filmed a What's in My Bag video and I really enjoyed sharing.

Statement Necklaces

I love statement necklaces mostly because I feel like they can elevate any look. Simple outfits like a t-shirt and jeans can be dressed up or made more elegant if they have a special piece, like a statement necklace.

Many of the statement necklaces that I have come from Francesca's (who is currently having a sale btw). I bought the following two in March of this year while they were having a sale. I believe the sale was a 50% BOGO.

In my opinion, statement necklaces can create a completely different look in that simple, lazy day outfits are made more special if they have a piece to make them seem more dressy. This can apply to chunky bracelets, cocktail rings, midi rings, hats, scarves, or shoes. One element of a look can completely remodel the appearance of the outfit and can easily help to transition from day to night.

For me, big, chunky necklaces also provide a pop of color. I gravitate towards more black, white, and grey in my wardrobe so having colorful jewelry brightens everything up and makes looks seem more colorful and fun.

Please leave a comment and tell me what you think about statement necklaces.
Where do you get them and what's your favorite one?

April Favorites | 2014

Hello...so this is my first beauty blog post ever and I wasn't quite sure what I wanted to do but I ultimately decided to do an April Favorites post as this is the last day of the month.

So these are a few things that I have been using lately that I really love and would definitely recommend to everyone. I also wanted to include some other things besides makeup, just to have some variety. In my monthly favorites, I will try to include a food, a song or album, and maybe a YouTuber that I have been obsessed with lately.

First is the makeup

This is my Make Up For Ever HD High Definition Microfinish Powder. It is a loose, translucent powder that I absolutely love. I don't really ever use any other powder. It is a little messy (ok it's really messy) which is why I don't really like to open it unless I am using it.

Next is the Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer. I absolutely love this bronzer because it's a little hard for me to find bronzers as some blend in with my skin tone, but the Too Faced bronzer is the perfect shade and really contours my face well. Also, it smells like chocolate. Who wouldn't want something that smells like chocolate?

This next product is the Tarte Park Avenue Princess. It is an Amazonian clay matte waterproof bronzer. I mainly bought this because I heard a lot of beauty gurus of YouTube talking about this bronzer and I really like Tarte products, so I decided to try it. I do like this bronzer but it is pretty much the exact same shade as my skin. It blends in too much to really contour anything but, I still do like it. Now, I just sort of use it as a powder if I'm trying to get a more even skin tone.

And the last makeup product for this month is the Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Natural in N9. I received this lipstick as a sample with another purchase from Sephora and I absolutely love the color. It is a darker red color that looks great on and can go with many different makeup looks.

Now onto music:

An album that I am obsessed with this month is Iggy Azalea's New Classic.
I don't usually like rap or hip hop music but I've this album has been on repeat since I bought it. Some of my favorite songs off the album are "Fancy," "New Bitch," and "Black Widow."

Lastly, a YouTuber:

A YouTuber I have been loving this month is LaurDIY. She is an amazing YouTuber who makes great DIY projects that I desperately want to try once I'm home (I live in a dorm room right now). Some of her videos include no-sew pillow ideas, dreamcatchers, and ombre sneakers.

So that is it for my April Favorites. Leave me a comment letting me know what you thought of them and I hope to hear from you again.
